The Art Decò

Who has not seen the film “The Great Gatsby”? A 2013 film by the stellar cast and the soundtrack certainly not indifferent. Today we will talk about Art Deco, the artistic movement of that period, the years 20/30, and as has been the source of inspiration for the decor of the set of this wonderful film.




 

What is Art Deco? It ‘is a form of art next to’ Art Nouveau (Art Nouveau for instance) appared in Paris in 1910 but developed towards 30 years, especially in America. It ‘a style entirely new peep where the geometric shapes abandoning soft, sinuous those typical of the previous style. This artistic movement is mainly influenced by the Egyptian style, and African, as the most popular destinations of the time, in fact we can notice the presence of hieroglyphs and exotic prints in a variety of furnishings.

Just in film “The Great Gatsby” We can see how the Art Deco is so elegant and glamorous! golden details, crystal chandeliers and embroidered pillows are the elements which characterize the internal environment making exceptional and faithful to furnishing of the first three decades of the ‘900. Do not underestimate the precious materials used as the inlaid wood, steel and glass and more mirrors and pictures in full view.

One of the exponents of the genre painters is well known Tamara de Lempicka became famous for his portraits.

With the second world war and mass production, the Art Deco slowly begins to disappear because it was thought to represent a false image of luxury. But it will later be resumed in the 80s thanks to the graphic design of that period. I like a lot and you?
